Gerald O.S. Oyen (Gerry) is a member of the British Columbia and Alberta Bars. Gerry counsels clients on intellectual property law in areas relating to chemical, plastics, pharmaceutical, pulp and paper, mechanical, mining and medical technologies.

An author of numerous papers, including a comprehensive treatment of the Canadian law on claiming chemical and pharmaceutical inventions, Gerry’s experience includes fifteen years of lecturing on patent law as an adjunct professor of law at the Faculty of Law of UBC and three years at Dow Chemical Canada as a product development engineer.

Over his career, Gerry has been a speaker at various continuing legal programs and conferences held in Canada, the United States, and New Zealand.

Gerry is a member of a number of professional associations including the Canadian Bar Association, Intellectual Property Institute of Canada ­(Fellow), American Intellectual Property Law Association, International Trademark Association and the Licensing Executives Society. Gerry has been a member of a number of working committees of the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada.
